Some iPhoneography experiments, inspired by a lost friend.
I’m thinking about a new project. In the meantime, here are a few shots from a recent shoot with an aspiring fitness model.

I had a blast shooting with Ben and Tani at Zena Forest Products’ mill near West Salem. It was an overcast day, and most of the photographs were shot using ambient light with a reflector or two. I used a ringflash for a few of them.
It was the first time Ben and Tani modeled, and they did a great job!
I’m not sure that I agree with all of the points, especially the section about parts modeling. Any face will distract from an object in an image. That is just biology. If a goal is to draw attention to the object, sometimes it makes a lot of sense not to include someone’s face.
However, the point is well taken that women are objectified in advertising more so than men.

I love to shoot portraits, but I’d have to say that I generally like focusing on one person at a time. I shot these family portraits this weekend, and I had a lot of fun. We hit Napoleon’s Crêperie & Gelato after the shoot and chatted over stracciatella. What a great way to spend the day.
While house cleaning, I took a moment to make a photo with a cool fruit using our white plastic fruit bowl. I might work on this a little and print it for display in the kitchen.
